BOLD JOURNEY
Meet Belle Guillory

November 3, 2023

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Belle Guillory. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Belle, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
In my life, one thing I learned is that things don’t always come easy but with resilience you can come out on top. As a child, I was raised by strong independent black women— my mother, grandmother and aunts. The challenges they faced to bring up their families never stopped their determination, attitude or spirit. No matter what challenges they faced, they always kept moving forward, adapted and did it through an optimistic point-of-view. They taught me no matter what you face, you can get through any obstacle with faith and hard work.

THE SHOW REPORT
REVIEW: “VALLEY SONG” — International City Theatre @ Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center

September 12, 2022

Being the stand-in for South African youth is a difficult task, but Ms. Guillory is a whirling dervish. She sings, stomps, smiles, and storms around the stage and clearly overshadows the other two characters. And her performance is perfectly pitched, with just enough bravura and generosity to affirm the inevitable future without erasing the power of the past.

Ms. Guillory carefully centers her role not in the flash of Veronica’s dances but in those quieter, more passive moments.

Belle Guillory as Veronica is the role in which this talented actress comes fully into her own. She commands the stage with a completely seductive blend of fearlessness and self-deprecating humor.

Showbuzz: Two plays present different levels of love

Guillory as his granddaughter Veronica is effervescent. Her beautiful singing voice giving birth to the characters’ extemporaneous songs only convinces one of the truth of this so-often-repeated scenario. It is the basis of most Disney movies, yet here there are no clichés, just a clear picture of these characters’ spirits.

LA THEATRIX
International City Theatre’s ‘Valley Song’ soars beyond its humble setting

August 31, 2022

Belle Guillory as the young Veronica is perfectly cast, vanishing into her exuberant character. Her strong yet sweet singing voice captures Veronica’s personality to a T as she negotiates her love for her grandfather with her own burgeoning calling. Guillory’s girlish vocal, facial and physical expressions are delightful in this role, complete with an authentic seeming South African accent.

Todd and Posley spoke with Deadline about heralding a new era of Black horror stories with Bitch Ass.

Described as Think Don’t Breathe meets Squid Game—but Black, the film is an homage to 90s horror films like Tales From The Hood and People Under the Stairs.

The cast also includes Sheaun McKinney, Me’Lisa Sellers, Teon Kelly, A-f-r-o, Kelsey Caesar, and Belle Guillory.

KILLER HORROR CRITIC
SXSW 2022 Review

March 22, 2022

The name of the game with Bitch Ass is fun, which comes out through an enjoyable cast. Venturing into the old manor along with Q is his tough friend, Tuck (Kelsey Caesar), dumbass Moo (A-F-R-O) and wisecracking Cricket (Belle Guillory). I’m not going to lie and say there’s a whole lot of depth to the other three, but the chemistry between them all comes off as genuine and makes for some good laughs as they knock on each other, with Guillory as a standout. They’re all good pawns for Bitch Ass and his games.
